With their third transatlantic bouillabaisse of anarcho-virtuosi avant-punk stylings, Tsigoti continue to intone their unabashed frustrations with the shortcomings of our human experiment with war. The Imagination Liberation Front Thinks Again (ILF), our new slab from this quartet of overly experienced anti-specialists, merges the angst of punk, the absurdity of Dada and the soapbox political shoutings of the world’s finest provocateurs.

ILF shifts like the surface of an ocean. It’s moody, cinematic and forceful. The lyrics are borne from genuine frustration and dissatisfaction with the atrocities of war, violence, injustice, genocide, superiority, prejudice, arrogance, oppression, pollution and freeways. There’s a Dadaesque boiling-over to the words, which only supply yet more integrity to the madcap ravings of the guitar, bass and drums. At times, Thollem provides an exemplary bent circus piano, even throwing in some ragtime, but as if Scott Joplin swapped hormones with Iggy Pop.  Each musician grows in and out of each other, in a quantumly and musically entangled force field.
But this is not inaccessible music, which makes Tsigoti even more important. Their whimsical, spasmodic punkestrations exhibit a deep precision, like a finely-oiled Jean Tinguely sculpture. You just hit the power switch and watch the whole thing unfold. That is how to experience the world of Tsigoti.

Squarcicatrici tour autunno 2012

Dopo la pubblicazione dell'album “Bossa Storta” sulla storica etichetta francese Saravah e dell'omonimo album “Squarcicatrici” uscito in Italia per Wallace rec e Burp Enterprise e negli Stati Uniti per Northpole Rec la band ha suonato in tutta europa, Italia inclusa.
Recentemente è uscito un live a La Scighera, “Squarci a Milano”, disponibile in download gratuito sulla pagina della San Giuseppe Records, un brano sulla compilation della NorthPole records “Northpole POP” e un EP live della tournée con Scott Rosenberg ai sassofoni, ascoltabile gratuitamente sulla pagina di Afoforomusicclub.
La band ha quasi finito le registrazioni del nuovo album “Zen Crust”, in uscita entro la fine del 2012, che vede all'opera il quartetto Andreini, Caprara, Spitilli e Bennici e tutti i quattro batteristi che hanno suonato negli ultimi anni con la band: Andrea Belfi, Enzo Rotondaro, Simone Tecla, Andrea Dilillo.

Nuovo tour per Squarcicatrici : dopo tre tournées europee e varie spedizioni ai quattro angoli d'Italia, questa volta la band si autoremixa sul palco per collaborare col musicista/compositore californiano Scott Pinkmountain.
Scott Pinkmountain/Rosenberg negli ultimi 20 anni ha suonato negli Stati Uniti ed Europa con musicisti del calibro di Anthony Braxton, Gino Robair, Sam Coomes, Arrington de Dionyso, Phil Minton, Jaap Blonk, Pauline Oliveros, Tim Daisy, Nate Wooley e molti altri.
Scott e Jacopo si incontrano a Chicago nel 2000 e da quel momento collaborano ininterrottamente. Nel 2003 hanno suonato insieme nell'European Skronktet con Vincenzo Vasi al basso e theremin. Nel 2004 hanno fatto un doppio tour (West Coast e Italia) in trio con Arrington de Dionyso, pubblicando poi un album con RAI Trade. Nel 2006 hanno formato il quartetto Lubuaku con Thollem McDonas e Matteo Bennici. Nell'estate del 2010 hanno diretto la Nipozzanzibarishe Big band con membri di Squarcicatrici, Jealousy Party, Luther Blisset ed esponenti della scena freejazz fiorentina. Durante quella session Scott ha la visione di un ensemble che suoni una serie di composizioni in chiave afrorock ; le realizza nel gennaio del 2012 invitando 12 dei migliori musicisti statunitensi (Ava Mendoza, John Shiurba, Gino Robair, Gene Baker, Nate Wooley, Thollem McDonas, Jesse Gilbert....) e Jacopo Andreini. A quel punto i due lanciano la sfida ancora più lontano : suonare le composizioni del prossimo album di Squarcicatrici e del nuovo progetto di Scott per adattarlo ad una lineup compatta ed inventiva.

Il primo album "Bossa Storta" è uscito nel 2006 pubblicato dalla storica etichetta franco-giapponese Saravah e distribuito in Francia, Giappone, Italia, Brasile, Germania, Svizzera, Belgio e Olanda. Sul disco ospiti Chiara Locardi (L'Enfance Rouge), Enrico Amendolia (Malfunk), Edoardo Ricci (NEEM), Stefano Bartolini (Banda Improvvisa), Alicia Wade (Orlock) per dodici brani tra cui una cover di Luigi Tenco.Il secondo album "Squarcicatrici" è stato prodotto nel novembre 2009 da Frigorifero Prod. con San Giuseppe rec, Wallace rec e Burp Publications per l'Italia, e Northpole + Nillacat per gli Stati Uniti. Ospiti internazionali tra cui Enrico Antonello (Pangolinorchestra), Erwan Naour (Les Hurlements d'Leo), Thollem McDonas, Samuele Venturin (Motociclica Tellacci) e un remix da parte di Vuneny (Bosnia) per interpretare dodici nuove composizioni intense e aggressive. Inoltre contiene un saggio del sociologo brasiliano Chico Caminati dal titolo "Preto são todas as cores, branco é ausência de cor!" scritto appositamente per questo progetto.

SQUARCICATRICI is actually working on the recordings made at La Scighera, Milano (thanks to Paolo Casati) to release a 6 tracks live EP. They have been invited to play at Magnolia Parade in Milan to share the stage with The Ex & Brass Unbound, LCD Soundsystem, UNKLE and many more on september 3rd, 2011, and they have planned to record the new album during fall 2011. A longer appetizer gig will be performed in Firenze at Circolo Aurora on september 2nd. Both with Andrea Di Lillo (of legendary Motocicica Tellacci) on drums!

The NIPOZZANZIBARISHE BIG BAND (featuring Scott Rosenberg, Renato Cordovani, Edoardo Ricci, Stefano Bartolini, Andrea Caprara, Francesco di Mauro, Cosimo Boni, Marco Baldini, Filippo Giuffré, Matteo Bennici, Piero Spitilli, WJ Meatball and Jacopo Andreini) condensed the recordings from the august 2010 session in an album of original compositions by Rosenberg and Andreini plus a mesmerizing reinterpretation of a symphonic piece by Charles Mingus. The album could be released soon as T-Shirt with download code, or vinyl.

TSIGOTI after the 4 weeks italian tour recorded 6 new tracks with new-entry bassist Piero Spitilli. The previous album (TheImaginationLiberationFront ThinksAgain), still officially unreleased, is in the hands of Thurston Moore, Nels Cline, Mike Watt, Chris Cutler, Bernard Stollmann to be heard and waiting to be properly released. The band planned another italian tour nov. 24th - dec 12th.

L'ENFANCE ROUGE just recorded the material for the next two albums in Nipozzano. A trio/quartet album with maroccan qanunist Samir Hammouch with the material they are playing on stage in the last year, including the new quartet material composed with Hammouch and sang by the whole band in arabic; then the pre-production versions of the music for the project with Lotfi Bouchnak to be arranged and recorded in Tunis

JACOPO ANDREINI ended his new old-school solo album "Cogli Ossi" where he plays all the instruments, to be released by Frigorifero Prod. in september. Raphael Anker on trumpet from swiss-ethiopian band Imperial Tiger Orchestra, Edoardo Ricci on electronics and Piero Spitilli on contrabass are the guests for project. Jacopo's compositions plus Marika Papagika's "Bournovalio" and maroccan traditional "Jahjoukha" (from the Marrakech festival of 1973) are the dishes featured for this release.

A one-time band project just recorded a three days session in Nipozzano: GI GASPARIN (Pangolinorchestra, Else, Gi Napajo) on voice, guitar and rantola orizzontale, TOMAJ (Detriti, Pangolinorchestra) on voice and piano, ANDREA CAPRARA on bass and JACOPO ANDREINI on drums. The free-rock'n'roll music will be released soon by SanGiuseppeRec. At the same time Tomaj recorded a version of Franti's anthem "No Future" with voice and accordion for a tribute compilation to the band.

Waristerror Terroriswar (Now TSIGOTI) is a collaborative and improvisational quazi-punk band dedicated to expressing their opposition for war, authoritarian regimes, and violent religious extremes. It's a band made up of members from two different continents with a tremendous amount of experience in a wide variety of musical situations. Their first album transpired the year after the 2006 war between Lebanon and Israel though it is not about that war specifically but war in general. Some songs were written in a few hours, and without teaching them to each other they recorded the first album "TheBrutalRealityOfModernBrutality" in 3 days. They met again one year later to record a second album "PrivatePovertySpeaksToThePeopleOfTheParty", play their first shows to wildly enthusiastic audiences, and reconfirm their collective skeptical optimism.
TSIGOTI (meaning 'I see' in Cherokee language) is the next step. Same people, same instruments, same improvisational spirit, now with more involvement and time to craft songs. This time war is seen from the inside, from people who suffer being attacked, trapped, imprisoned, terrorized and tricked. The music has become more complex, with guest musicians from our Valdisieve family (Edoardo Ricci, Samuele Venturin, Francesco di Mauro, and a choir of a dozen of friends). A multi-layered approach to the sound, exploiting new recording techniques and equipment, brings Tsigoti sound to your ears exploding in all its controversial spikes. The artwork is signed by master cartoonist Squaz and the album was released in december 2009 by ESP-Disk, distributed worldwide.

Dopo tre tournée europee, apparizioni lampo ai quattro angoli d'Italia, la partecipazione all'ultima edizione del TagoFest e infine l'uscita dell'album omonimo, Squarcicatrici parte all'attacco della penisola. Il quintetto è pronto a scavare ulteriormente nella sua musica per ballare e sudati avvinghiarsi ai sentimenti più densi.
Il primo album "Bossa Storta" è uscito nel 2006 pubblicato dalla storica etichetta franco-giapponese Saravah e distribuito in Francia, Giappone, Italia, Brasile, Germania, Svizzera, Belgio e Olanda. Sul disco ospiti Chiara Locardi (L'Enfance Rouge), Enrico Amendolia (Malfunk), Edoardo Ricci (NEEM), Stefano Bartolini (Banda Improvvisa), Alicia Wade (Orlock) per dodici brani tra cui una cover di Luigi Tenco.
Il secondo album "Squarcicatrici" è stato prodotto nel novembre 2009 da Frigorifero Prod. con San Giuseppe rec, Wallace rec e Burp Publications per l'Italia, e Northpole + Nillacat per gli Stati Uniti. Ospiti internazionali tra cui Enrico Antonello (Pangolinorchestra), Erwan Naour (Les Hurlements d'Leo), Thollem McDonas, Samuele Venturin (Motociclica Tellacci) e un remix da parte di Vuneny (Bosnia) per interpretare dodici nuove composizioni intense e aggressive. Ensemble aux timbres et dinamiques extremes, capable de fin retouches au pinceau comme de graver avec la fureur d'un marteau-piqueur, se presente en concert avec une nouvelle formation enrichie par une violoncelle et une paire de basses, en creusant dans les entrelacements armolodiques pour en faire jaillir l'intensité la plus profonde.

Po prvi evropski turneji pred dvema letoma, ko so Squarcicatrici predstavljali predvsem album Bossa storta (Saravah, 2006) s skladbami avtorjev kot so Jacques Higelin, Brigitte Fontaine, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Steve Lacy, Squarcicatrici (v prostem prevodu “Razparači”) nadaljujejo z raziskavami godb sveta in izumljanjem afropunka. Ansambel skrajne dinamike je zaplaval še v harmolodične teksture v postavi:

Ensemble of extreme dinamycs, ready to trace sketches with a paintbrush as to sculpt with the fury of a sledgehammer, on stage the band is now performing with a new lineup with cello and two basses, swimming into armolodic textures to extract the most powerful intensity.
The first album “Bossa Storta” was released in 2006 by the french cult label Saravah and distributed in France, Japan, Italy and Brasil. Live set of cinevisual and music improvisation on hand-made short films and direct life on stage

Tuia Cherici works on video using different technics (stop motion, collages, animation with liquids) creating a very rich content of strong images, and an easy tool to describe facts and emotions.
Manucinema starts when video meets music in the direct way of improvisation, and the projection assume an own unrpeatable life through different optical happenings (lense distorsions, colours games, hand made lights effects, ecc)
Nowadays Tuia uses to perform Manucinema in a deep collaboration with music improvisers, who normally see the video for the first time just right on the live performance.
There's no accepted hierarchy between music and the videoprojection! Both communicate with each other following faithfully the instinct of the immediate present.

The quartet plays exclusively the compositions by Edoardo Ricci, propulsives themes opening on unexplored sonic worlds. After the experience with CRAP (Ricci and Andreini with Roy Paci and Helmut Cipriani) a dare-devil line up mixing thousands of ideas and sounds, taking no prisoners, with a ferocious interplay made possible by the decennial knowledge of the four musicians.

This project was born after the numerous meetings between the four musicians in the last 7 years, on the road between Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Nipozzano. In their pockets there’s original compositions written by each one of them, ranging from mathemathic jazz sweating minimalism, turbofolk, sicilian saudade, emigrant rock. An unique project for a thousand tastes, once again on tour to present the album recorded after the first italian tour in 2006 and released by Luccicanza rec.

Waristerror Terroriswar (Now TSIGOTI) is a collaborative and improvisational quazi-punk band dedicated to expressing their opposition for war, authoritarian regimes, and violent religious extremes. It's a band made up of members from two different continents with a tremendous amount of experience in a wide variety of musical situations. Their first album transpired the year after the 2006 war between Lebanon and Israel though it is not about that war specifically but war in general. Some songs were written in a few hours, and without teaching them to each other they recorded the first album "TheBrutalRealityOfModernBrutality" in 3 days. They met again this past year to record a second album "Private Poverty Speaks To The People Of The Party", play their first shows to wildly enthusiastic audiences, and reconfirm their collective skeptical optimism.

TSIGOTI (meaning 'I see' in Cherokee language) is the next step. Same people, same instruments, same improvisational spirit, now with more involvement and time to craft songs. This time war is seen from the inside, from people who suffer being attacked, trapped, imprisoned, terrorized and tricked. The music has become more complex, with guest musicians from our Valdisieve family (Edoardo Ricci, Samuele Venturin, Francesco di Mauro, and a choir of a dozen of friends). A multi-layered approach to the sound, exploiting new recording techniques and equipment, brings Tsigoti sound to your ears exploding in all its controversial spikes. The artwork is signed by master cartoonist Squaz and the album was released in december 2009 by ESP-Disk, distributed worldwide.
